Identity Verification for a DeFi Protocol Wallet Ownership Proved, Fraudulent Recovery Claims Blocked

DeFi Protocol came to Hypersign facing a real compliance challenge: a solver exploit left funds inaccessible and ownership disputed. Without any identity or wallet-binding layer, users claiming recovery couldn't prove they were the legitimate wallet owners and bad actors were attempting to claim funds that weren't theirs.

The Approach

Hypersign implemented a two-layer verification flow: first, standard identity verification to confirm who the user was; second, wallet-signature binding to cryptographically tie that verified identity to a specific on-chain address. Only users who could pass both checks matching their verified identity to a signed message from the claiming wallet were eligible for recovery. The entire process created a tamper-evident audit trail.
